The Experience
This camp is for any kids 8 - 12 years old that have ever been interested in taking selfies, or forced their siblings or pets to pose for photos for way too long, or for the kids that like to set up their toys and decor in a certain way to make it just perfect for a photo. We are going to dive deep into the art of photography and explore what makes a photograph great, what the different types of photography are, and how to practice being creative with their photography. The best part is, this will be a very hands on camp, the kids will spend the majority of their day brainstorming, preparing, and photographing. They will leave with a printed portfolio, a new love for this art, and of course memories from a very fun week.
This camp is for beginners, the same point and shoot cameras will be provided for use during the camp. Kids must use these cameras and can not bring their own. This way we can focus more on the art of photography, then get caught up on the technical side. We can also assure that no personal cameras get broken, lost, or simply forgotten at home.
All you need to bring is a snack and lunch for your child each day, please make sure they leave all toys at home.
Full day means Drop off time between 8:30am and 9am, and pick up between 3pm and 3:30pm
Half day means drop off between 8:30am and 9am, and pick up between 12pm and 12:30pm
Fees must be paid in full and are nonrefundable. If you cancel your spot you can use it for a camp in the future or it can go towards a photoshoot with MKStallings Photography or you can give your spot to someone else.
If you're signing up more than one child you will have to go through the sign up process below again per child.
Commonly Asked
Questions
1. What if i have a child outside the 8-12 age range?
Unfortunately I am going to have to stick to that age group. I am offering a really fun camp for kids 5-10 that would be a lot of fun if you have a child younger than 8. If you have a teen interested in photography classes please message me, this is something I would love to offer in the future!
2. What does critique mean on the schedule?
I've found the best way to grow as an artist is to get both feedback and inspiration from peers. We will pull up each child's favorite photo they took that day on the tv. Since there's so much room for creativity in each project their photos will all look pretty different so it'll be exciting for them to see! Then the kids will share things they like about it, how the photo makes them feel, etc. No criticism or rude remarks allowed. It'll be comments like, I love the colors you used in there! It reminds me of a birthday cake! Everything will be encouraging and supportive of these young artists. It also gives the kids a chance to show off their photos they've worked so hard on!
3. How many kids will be there?
No more than 12. If there's more than 7 kids I will have a helper as well.
